kristine nguyen (they/she)

is a queer and femme vietnamese american actor and multimedia artist based in southern california. they graduated from the university of california, san diego with a major in visual arts media and a minor in theatre. their modes of creative expression include narrative performance, hand-drawn digital animation, cartoony illustration, filmmaking, and short-form media projects. they also enjoy funky graphic photo-editing and graphic design. in their free time, they take photos, model, and dance for fun. besides just having fun, kristine’s work centers on their personal experiences as a member of the vietnamese diaspora, and from there shaping the ability to experience community, create visibility for the unseen + unheard, and explore love as a core practice. they aim to grow, heal, love, and learn with others. they welcome the process of learning through making mistakes and embracing imperfections as part of their social + individual evolution.

so…what is a sweetsop?

a sweetsop, otherwise known as a sugar apple, is a fruit that kristine’s mom decided to name them after in vietnamese. bé “NA” is what they would be called at home. kristine thinks this is funny as they also happen to be obviously fruity.

you may occasionally see them go by the moniker of “WEENIE,” a cherished name adopted by endearing friends and family. the origin of this one is still to be determined.
